Thousands enjoy Aqaba during Eid
(ANSA) – Aqaba, October 21 – Some 95,000 Jordanians visited Aqaba during the four-day Eid al Adha holiday seeking the Red Sea port city’s warmth and enjoying a shopping bonanza amid an unprecedented rise in hotel and apartment bookings.
Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) Chief Commissioner Kamel Mahadin said the authority, in cooperation with the local governor’s office, and police and civil defense departments, had put in place a special administrative plan during the Eid festival to ensure traffic safety and preven congestion.
“Aqaba was amazingly festive this Eid,” he said. “Tourists and residents had so much to do and enjoy. It is always incredibly exciting to see the city celebrating by showing its unique cultural heritage”. Mahadin added that: “we in ASEZA are quite pleased with how Aqaba continues to be one of the top destinations for the Eid Holidays. The city’s modern infrastructure, beautiful beaches and tourism attributes remain unique and attractive to thousands”.
ASEZA organized free-entertainment programmes in various areas of the southern city over the Eid, including singing, art performances, children’s theatre and family activities.
