Probe opened into alleged 1.5-mn-euro doctors’ scam
(ANSA) – Caserta, October 21 – Italian police in the southern Italian city of Caserta are investigating an alleged 1.5-million-euro scam involving national health service funds that some 400 doctors may have claimed for non-existent patients.
It is suspected that the 6,000 patients in question were dead, or had emigrated abroad or transferred to another part of Italy and were therefore no longer under the doctor’s care.
